INTRODUCTION
"it is a sad and beautiful world" sais Tom Waits in Jim Jarmusch`s brilliant movie "Down by Law". Right! And life is unfair, too! Some guys can afford to buy tons of great guitars. But I don`t. I do have some nice instruments, some very nice ones...but not as many as I urgently need...
Buying and collecting is nice.
But some guys can even build tons of great guitars themselves.
I don`t. Not gifted enough.
And then ... Some of these guys are so much more talented than others!
They are intelligent and cultivated, they know a lot about fine arts, about design, about guitars and they are full of energy and creativity. AND they even are very, very good luthiers too!!
There aren`t many guys like this. A rare species.
Geniuses.
Michael Spalt is one of them.
Here I `d like to present some of his original guitars. Unfortunately I don`t own them and there is no chance that I might ever be able to afford a Spalt collection.
I just have a digital archive.
Here is some of it.

There are some folks
who own
Totem guitars by Michale Spalt
AND
Girl Brand Guitars by Chris Larsen.
Jerry is one of them.
Henry Kaiser is another one
and I am the third one.
See our
Girlbrand Galleries:
Some Totem/ Michael Spalt guitars owned by Henry Kaiser:
(Henry agrees that Chris Larsen (Girl Brand guitars) and Michale Spalt (Totem guitars) are the most interesting luthiers.)
Henry seems to like squids.
Check my Gilrbrand guitars gallery
to see his "Sushi Girl" guitar
with an amazing squid inlay
made by Chris Larsen...
There are many, many more beautiful creatures
by Michel Spalt out there!!!
